Strategy of Tunisia for vocational training:
Introduction:
Recent developments in economic theory highlight the
potential role that knowledge, human capital and R&D play a role in
economic growth; what allows for the emergence of increasing returns to scale

Vocational training
in Tunisia:
Vocational training in Tunisia is provided by private and
public actors. The public bodies are the various technical ministries that
provide training in the areas for which they are responsible. The most
important is the Ministry of Training. Professional and Employment, created in
1990 and under the responsibility of the Tunisian Training Agency Professional
(ATFP). But there are other operators such as the Ministries of Agriculture, Tourism
and Handicrafts, Public Health. The ATFP provides educational supervision over all
public stakeholders in the field of vocational training and issue
authorizations to private training providers. It was in 1993 that the
provisions of the law guidelines for vocational training have been promulgated.
This law filled a void legal and aimed at the concentration and coordination of
vocational training. She was aiming also the organization of the private sector
of vocational training, initial training, and continuing education as well as
the approval of diplomas and training certificates professional.
From 2002, the supervision of vocational training was
provided by the Ministry of Education and Training, endorsed by a State
Secretariat responsible for training professional.
1) Initial training
The 1993 law defined initial training as
having "the aim of providing a general basic training, and to impart
professional skills and knowledge, with a view to the exercise of a trade or a
qualified profession. It prepares for entry into life vocational training at
all skill levels, and facilitates access to further training. " After
initial training, the diplomas awarded are at three levels: The Professional
Aptitude Certificate which certifies a training cycle lasting minimum of one
year after basic education.
2) The formation continues
Continuing education has been defined as
having "the purpose of consolidating general and professional knowledge
acquired, to develop and adapt it to changes in technology and working
conditions; it also aims to confer other professional skills and qualifications
for the exercise of a new activity professional development, and to ensure the
social and professional advancement of workers ".
Evolution of the number of vocational training:
1) Initial training:

is to provide general training for

2) Standardized training:
Standardized training is that which is in
accordance with the standards defined by law orientation of vocational
training, promulgated in 1993, in particular concerning conditions of access to
the various courses sanctioned by the diplomas of the Certificate of Aptitude
Professional, with a Professional Technician's Certificate and a Higher
Technician's Certificate. The capacity to accommodate standardized training in
vocational training centers has been multiplied by three in 1997 and 2005.
